One of two preliminary drawings done in preparation for a sheep commission based on photos taken upon my many English rural romps. This design was perhaps not chosen as, should the lamb not be initially seen, the shading sub-Ewe and of the foreground boulder could be seen by some to be a massive pole stuck up the mother's derrière!

These two fox cubs were drawn for a personal commission, so unfortunately I never got to meet the two little guys. However, my pen and I were very pleased to spend a number of hours in their company.

Pencil sketch with ink atop. This little guy spent most of the day following my 33rd birthday playing in the garden. "Big Fox" came to say "hello" later on that day too making "Baby Grey" run for the trees.

I had been approached to do a commission of a Squirrel - and set about producing this in preperation. I see so many Squrriels in my garden that I've been intending to put one on paper for a while now.

Ink on Paper. This sketch was drawn from a series of photographs of young calves down in Dorset in 2006, and is an homage to Henry Moore's sheep sketchbook which spends a great deal of time looking at Lambing season.

This was drawn as the basis for a Christmas card for the British Lung Foundation. A nice quick pencil sketch of a Deer from Richmond Park.

My niece's spaniel "Jaz". Drawn in 2015 in chalk and charcoal for the first public exhibition of my work. Chalk and Charcoal is by far my preferred medium. I find it provides greater expression of stroke - especially useful when drawing fur or feathers.

So - here's a 10 minute terracotta kitten sketch drawn on a sleepy sunny bank holiday morning.

My garden and I are honoured each day by two foxes - one large, one small - rarely around long enough to sketch properly, but, over the months I've observed them, their characters become clear. Not simply timid and afraid of us pink bipeds, they're confident, brazen almost, and more than happy to coexist with us. This is "Big Fox" - he's the bushiest of the two and watches you watch him as he forages for food.

"Maximus" was the Capuchin Monkey from the first season of Showtime's "The Borgias". He was so called because he had a substantially sized... "attitude!" This drawing was done in David's trailer whilst shooting the second episode of the series, where Maximus was used to test for poison by Cesare Borgia. Again, this is a biro sketch.

George W. Bush drew many of the world's dignitaries from pictures he found on the internet. For my sins, this too was a copy from a photo found online. Sorry! However, it was drawn in 2009 whilst filming "The Pillars of the Earth". All other drawings on this site are either drawn from life, or from photos taken by myself.
