"Swallowtail" (2016)
My father hasn't seen a Swallowtail (one of his favourite flies) yet this year... so, I drew him this one!
"Painted Lady" (2016)

My father has always been a keen Lepidopterist. Subsequently, in the lead up to his 30th wedding anniversary I set about drawing a few of his favourite species hoping that one would turn out as a suitable gift for him and my stepmother.
This simple yet striking Painted Lady seemed to me the most suitable gift. I hope he has space upon his wall for it.
"Comma" (2016)
Ink and watercolour. This Comma Butterfly was encountered on site of English Heritage's Saxon Burial Ground, Sutton Hoo. It was a beautiful sunny day and this brash specimen was sunning himself in the day's warmth.
This was created as the first stage of a private commission - a really enjoyable one - the only remit for the contract was "please just decide for me". What a delight!
