"St Mary's Lighthouse" (2018)
Chalk and charcoal on paper.
St Mary's Lighthouse is a Grade II listed building at the end of a small man-made causeway in Whitley Bay. It's bright white colouring matching the shine from the bulb itself. Mighty and proud.
"Headless Friar on the site of the Crystal Palace" (2018)
Ink on paper.
Sometimes you feel like a decapitated stone friar standing in the ruins of a once mighty empire. The roots of weeds slowly compressing and cracking your foundations; the elements not giving a fig for what you once were, for what you stood for...
Sometimes you want to be demolished so that something greater can be built atop your memory.
