Charcoal & a sniff of chalk.

The “Rodin and the art of Ancient Greece” exhibition is on at @BritishMuseum until 29th July 2018. Rodin aside, the exhibiton is well worth a trip just to see the Parthenon tablets up so close. The Burghers are normally available for free outside the Houses of Parliament, but it’s always a pleasure to spend more time in their company. Good lads - showing the English how it’s done since 1346.

To coincide with the release of ITV's "Victoria" I was commissioned to draw three portraits of Jenna Coleman as the eponymous queen. Each drawing was created from each of the first three episodes and were used by the network as part of their social media campaign.

A preparatory sketch of Jenna Coleman as Queen Victoria in ITV's Victoria. This was one of a number of practice sketches for a commission by ITV for a social media campaign focusing on "Victoria, the artist" to accompany the show.

A portrait of David playing Ernest II of Saxe Coburg and Gotha, Prince Albert's brother, in ITV's "Victoria" - to be aired in late 2016. The drawing was done with a brush nibbed faber castell ink pen.

Charcoal on paper. A charcoal sketch of Aura Garrido as "Aneris" from the film "Cold Skin". It was drawn on set to be used as one of my props. A few of my drawings appear throughout the film.

A portrait of Margaret Clunie playing Duchess Harriet Sutherland. This portrait was drawn in pencil to be used in ITV's "Victoria", to be aired in late 2016.

This sculpture of Orpheus lies in the grounds of Harewood House and is by Astrid Zydower. Whilst filming on location for ITV's "Victoria" I found a few minutes to sketch this awesome sculpture in biro upon the back of my script.

Drawn on my first trip to LA - this is a sketch of a Rodin bust of Jean d'Aire, one of the Burghers of Calais, which resides at LACMA (quite possibly the nicest thing about LA!)

My little sister Helen has always been asking me to draw something for her. For her wedding day I draw her a chalk and charcoal sketch of Rodin's sculpture, "The Cathedral". This photograph shows my sketch in an unfinished state - if you'd like to see it finished, you'll have to ask Helen!

As a complement to the previous sketch of a hand sculpture by Rodin, here's a much earlier sketch I did of Pierre de Wissant's hand - another one of the Burgher's of Calais. I did it whilst in Paris at the Musée Rodin.
